I know it's been a number of years since this was last up-dated, but I'm new to the site and stories, so I figured I might as well comment. I am not often moved to comment on any thing I read while lurking.
As a kid, I was a huge Space:1999 fan. As an adult, I've rediscovered the show through the dvd set my husband gave me for Christmas. Unfortunately, as with all shows, this one ended far too soon and I really miss the relationships and adventures the Alphans had. Now, with this one story, I feel like the romance is brought back, even if I'm not watching "canon," which it certainly could be. Beautifully descriptive, and with the background of music lyrics to set the mood, Arla plays out an emotional- and physical - first coming together for John and Helena that is true to the characters, well written and a joy to read. This is a romantic story, not for those wanting a 'shoot 'em up' adventure, but for those of us wanting to see a little tenderness and romance between the leads again, this story provides it and then some. It also allows us to see the toll that life on Alpha can have on the inhabitants, and how much they need each other.
This story reads true, and I hope to read more by Arla, even if I'm the only one here....
Hello? Anyone out there? If so, read 'Dance Away the Blues'. You won't be sorry.
